Description of Service
1. Introduction
XUND is a medical device manufacturer focused on developing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). We provide digital solutions that enable patient journeys from prevention to diagnosis. The portfolio of medical devices includes: Symptom Check, Illness Check, and Health Check. All of these are CE-marked medical devices in accordance with the EU Medical Devices Regulation (MDR).
The technology is the result of years of research and development and is based on the analysis of millions of medical publications using artificial intelligence (AI). To ensure the highest quality, our in-house team of medical doctors verifies this data against reference literature and practical experience. With certifications to the MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 27001, and the BSI C5 Type II certificate, XUND meets the highest regulatory standards for quality and safety.
2. Products
We take an API-first approach to all our Medical Modules, basic and add-on services (see figure). This enables our partners and clients to increase efficiency by automating routine tasks, reduce costs by minimizing human resources, and build patient-centered solutions through natural language understanding and data analysis.

2.1. Medical Modules
The products are fully modular in design and offer maximum flexibility and adaptability. The modules can be integrated at different levels, offering a quick setup via Web App or a deeper, fully customized integration via the Medical API. The portfolio comprises the following Medical Modules, which can be implemented either together or individually:
2.1.1. Symptom Check
Our Symptom Check helps to identify possible causes for the user's symptoms. Based on the main symptom, the tool provides in-depth questions and suggests additional accompanying symptoms that are likely based on the available information. After further questions about the user’s general health, lifestyle, and habits are answered, a preliminary assessment and relevant medical conditions are provided to guide the patient to the right care (within our client’s ecosystem).
2.1.2. Illness Check
Our Illness Check takes a targeted approach by evaluating specific health concerns. The module asks questions about relevant symptoms and risk factors to assess the likelihood of a selected condition (e.g., COVID-19) while also highlighting potential alternative causes.
2.1.3. Health Check
Our Health Check will provide a 360-degree health risk assessment aimed at asymptomatic patients. By asking users questions about their lifestyle, medications, family history, and preexisting conditions, the module will create a risk profile to identify relevant preventive measures and build a medical data baseline that can also be used to feed into Symptom and Illness Checks.
2.2. Basic services
All Medical Modules come with the following basic services that are included by default in any license agreement:
2.2.1. Medical Content
Medical Content contains basic information about the most common diseases and self-help recommendations. The content was developed by the medical team of XUND, complies with ISO 13485 standards, and thus meets the highest quality standards.
2.2.2. Data Insights
Data Insights provide more detailed insight into the exact results of the patient interactions. This may include, for example, the most common symptoms in a particular age group or the diseases most frequently searched for in the Illness Check.
2.2.3. Region & Language
As a manufacturer of medical devices that complies with the Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR 2017/745), we can market our portfolio of SaMD in all EU countries and states. However, local regulations, primarily of a linguistic nature, can restrict this. We have translated our medical database and content into compliance with ISO 17100 and ISO 18587, thereby ensuring the quality and safety of our solution. We currently provide the following languages:
- German
- English
- Hungarian
- Italian
- French
- Dutch
- Portuguese
Therefore, we can currently be active in the following countries:
- Austria
- Germany
- Switzerland
- Liechtenstein
- Hungary
- United Kingdom
- Ireland
- Malta
- Italy
- France
- Netherlands
- Belgium
- Luxembourg
- Portugal
Important: Only one region (e.g., Germany) and the respective official language (e.g., German) are included by default. Further regions and languages can be added as required. This will also affect the license fee.
2.3. Add-on services
All of the medical modules can be extended with a range of add-on services:
2.3.1. Medical Library
Our Medical Library contains in-depth fact sheets of the most common diseases with detailed information on diagnosis, treatment, and outlook. The fact sheets were developed together with our partner Thieme Group.
2.3.2. Patient Intent
Patient Intent provides surveys before and after assessments, capturing user motivation and feedback. This offers a comprehensive view into user behavior, helping our clients to better understand and refine the patient journey.
2.3.3. Healthcare Providers
Based on the check result, this add-on provides relevant treatment pathways. These can include recommended GPs or specialists in the area, the nearest pharmacy, or a digital health solution within our clients' ecosystem. The range of available healthcare providers differs from country to country, making it necessary to adapt the recommendations for the individual use case.
2.3.4. Ecosystem Management
Ecosystem Management allows our clients to incorporate their existing network of physicians, clinics, or other healthcare services like telemedicine, apps, or online booking platforms. By linking medical conditions (e.g., migraine) to medical specialties (e.g., neurology), we enable our partners to navigate patients within their ecosystem automatically to the right point of care.
